LittleBigPlanet 2 Confirmed – First Details Make Me Drool

image

LittleBigPlanet 2 was confirmed yesterday. It’s nothing really surprising, seeing as though it’s one of the biggest selling games on the PS3. However, what is surprising is the improvements the developers are promising over the original.

Media Molecule are basically saying that in LittleBigPlanet 2 you won’t be limited to making levels. Instead, you’ll be able to make entire games from scratch using the in-game editor. Sound exciting? You bet it does. Apparently one Dev has made a Sackboy version of Command and Conquer. Oh yes ladies and nerds, it’s no longer just a platformer.

I love the sound of this. Even the cynic inside of me is agreeing that Media Molecule will deliver. LittleBigPlanet is still one of the most original games I’ve played in the past five years, so I’m literally gagging for the sequel.

No, I’m not going to comment on the Playstaton Move support because I don’t care about it.

This Is MY MOON!

Recently, I've actually progressed from using the level creator on LittleBigPlanet for simply making floating cocks to actually making full blown, all singing, all dancing quality levels! (Sort off).

Surprisingly it's insanely easy to use, and not really that difficult to master either. Within about half an hour I'd gotten completely the hang of it, creating obstacles and platforms using a variety of winches, pistons and bolts. It was great fun, equally as fun as playing the levels themselves and this of course a complete testament to the hard work put in by those lovely chaps over at Media Molecule. Bravo!

Also, go play my levels? My PSN is Residentmeevil.

LittleBigPlanet X 4

Playing this game, with three other people in the same room, is an experience unparalleled by any other multiplayer game. I've never laughed this much in ages.

Absolutely class.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing has been hailed as the worst videogame ever, and to be honest it dosn't suprise me. A friend of mine once downloaded it for the crack, and my God did we laugh... for a LONG time.

I can't do this game justice of simply how terrible it is. So here's a video, and an accompying quote from a recent article on Games Radar.

Oh, and my opinion? If you've just bought a game that you think is terrible, give this a download. Big Rigs could put cancer into perspective.

“Stay one step ahead of the law”? The game didn’t ship with police included. “Race your modified rig”? It also forgot to ship with actual racing opponents. “5 different tracks”? When you try to load the fifth, the game crashes… and when the publisher released a patch to fix this issue, the fifth track was revealed as nothing but a mirrored version of the first. “Non-stop driving”? Sometimes, when starting a race, Big Rigs believes you’ve finished and rewards you with a congratulatory screen after five seconds. Genius!

Little Big Planet PSP

Oh yes guys, I would go as far as to buying a PSP just for this game. For that is how much I love LittleBigPlanet. Also, it would be great fun to share levels with my girlfreind!

A Little, Slightly Less Bigger, Planet

So today Stephen Fry said that he'd been voice acting for LittleBigPlanet on the PSP. Anyone else ridiculously exited over this portable version of an already well established classic?

Thoughts on a postcard. Or you know, if you're lazy, in the comments box.

Heathen Talk!

You  know what? I’m considering getting an Xbox… Yea I know, I talk of blasphemy but I may as well. Their not that cheap, they don’t break as much anymore and no-one can deny that the online is worth it every time! Also, it’ll be fun to play some online games with a mate of mine.

In other less hypocritical news, I finished Battlefield Bad Company last night! Cracking game. I really enjoyed it, even though I got it in September (The shame!)

Also, I got Crash Commando and the Metal Gear Solid pack for LittleBigPlanet. I’ve yet to play the latter, but the former is well good. Personally, I just can’t wait for the next Penny Arcade episode to come out. I loved that. It was brilliant. I may even go as far to say one of the best games I’ve played in a while :P

Oh, and the reason I haven't been blogging is that over the last few days I’ve been involved in SOCIAL activities! Real social activities!

I know, I’m surprised too..

Big Daddy Doll

Firstly, let me apologise for the lack of Blog’s these past few days. With new year and everything, it’s been difficult to update (also, I got quite ill after trying to kill myself by eating to much pizza. Fail).

But, I have something good to blog about. On new years eve my girlfriend had a brainwave while watching the Bioshock 2 trailer, and that idea was to make a Big Daddy Doll purely out of every day household items. The result, is the above picture. Pretty cool eh? I thought so.

So normal blogs tomorrow!

A LittleBig Slice of Heaven

It’s been a long time since I’ve been genuinely awe struck by the quality of a game. Bioshock was the last, mainly due to the story and the graphics, but since then games have admittedly gripped me but never left me in a state of genuine shock.

Within seconds, LittleBigPlanet managed to knock Bioshock off the top spot. I’ve never played a game that offers a completely different experience every time you play. It honestly baffles me. Some of the community maps are so beautifully detailed it puts the Media Molecule levels to shame.

If you own a PS3 and don’t have this yet, then I would seriously consider buying this, because if you don’t your missing out on one of the most refreshing concepts in the last few years.

Too Many Games!

I'm currently experiencing something that can only be described as a "Brain aneurysm" caused purely by the sheer amount of games I have to play. Honestly, I got three for Christmas, bought two on Boxing day and today decided (and trust me, this decision is so hypocritical that my friend actually scoffed) to go out and buy Call Of Duty: World At War even though I've been slagging it off since the day it was announced. But hey! I did the same with the PS3 and I couldn't live without mine now.

So, over the next few days I wont have anything specific to talk about unfortunately, so I'm just going to be giving you random bursts of pure 100% opinion on what I'm currently playing or have heard over the grape vine that is my many friends (and the Internet

To start off, LittleBigPlanet online is fantastic. Ten times better than what I expected. Community maps are win. Utter win, and playing online with friends is nothing short of perfection.

Mirrors Edge has been holding my interest, but unfortunately it looks like it wont for very much longer. I'm already half way through.

Finally,  Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is an amazing little game. I was just playing it for like an hour. Well good.

Christmas Goodies!!

So did everyone have a good Christmas? I know I did! Amongst other things (like a 26” full HD TV) I finally got my hands on LittleBigPlanet, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge and Prince of Persia. Basically, these will probably be the games I’ll be blogging about most so if you don’t like then… sorry? So, first opinions:

Great game. I loved the demo and a friend constantly ranted and raved about it for weeks so I’m glad I can finally play it. It’s smooth, uncomplicated and the graphics are sweet. Overall a very good game, but even at the point I’m up to it feels like there’s something missing…

My expectations of this game were quite low in all honesty. The first Far Cry and Crysis certainly aren't on my top ten list I can tell you, so I wasn’t expecting anything great.. But surprise surprise, this turns out to be a fantastic shooter. I’m not far through it, but it WORKS. It’s brilliant. The fire is superb, the graphics are amazing and there’s a lot of depth even from the start. I’m especially impressed with the little things like pulling bullets out from your leg and fixing cars. Well good.

In all fairness as soon as I paid £25 for this yesterday I thought I’d made a mistake. As I was loading, I kept getting what can only be described as Nam flashbacks of the god awful two thrones and the emoness of Warrior Within. I just couldn’t see how this game could be good after those two installments… But what I didn’t remember was the fantastic Sands of Time which is what this game can easily be compared to. It’s fresh, it’s original. It’s fun to play which I didn’t expect. It’s a little bit clunky to start off with but once you get into the habit of it (about 15 minutes in) it becomes something great.

Perfection. I can’t say anything about it that you won’t have all heard before. It’s just a work of art. It all makes sense. To me, this is a no brainer of a game. If you don’t own it yet, beware. If I see you in the street I’ll simply look at you, shake my head and walk away.

Color, Stephen Fry, Creativity, Sack Boys, Kratos Sack boys, multiplayer, trophies. Heaven.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Ah Christmas! The time when family’s pretend not to hate each other and spend an excessive amount of money on the people they love. For many it is a spiritual time, for me it’s purely for games.

Last Christmas I got more games that I would ever need. I got Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Splinter Cell; Double Agent, Guitar Hero 3, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis, Mysims and Sim City DS. Out of all them, Guitar Hero was played the most If I’m gong to be honest with you.

This Christmas however looks promising. Not only am I getting a new HD TV I’m also getting Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet and Bioshock. I already know three of them are amazing (I’m more intrigued by Far Cry 2) so I should have a laugh. After Christmas I’m pondering whether to get Prince of Persia or Mirrors Edge. Thoughts?

Woah wait a second, this post is purely a Christmas list!

Torture!

It's here. LittleBigPlanet. The PS3's must have game of 2008 and perhaps even the whole of the consoles life. It's here. And I don't have it.

Yes that's right, despite the rave reviews, the fantastic advertising campaign and a friend on the bus pulling an actual copy out of his bag and then putting it away as fast as physically possible as he was actually afraid I was going to mug him I don't have it for one simple reason. Cash.

Why is it that these days, games seem more expensive than before? I can never remember paying £40 for a game from the Playstation era, yet now I feel like I've got a bargain if I pay that much. The big problem is, especially this year, is the amount of quality games being released. There's so much to buy, yet if you did get them all the overall price would be somewhere in the region of around £250!

To summarize? Games are expensive, There's too many of them, My foot is itchy and my internet was off yesterday. Overall, I'm upset.

The truth behind the rumour

This is more of a request than a blog.

Today me and my girlfriend played Big Brain Academy for Wii (something I bought during my "OMG I LOVE THE WII SO MUCH I'LL BUY EVERY NEW GAME THAT COMES OUT" phase). We played 5 games and she won 3. Thus proving that she's smarter than me.

In all honesty though, It's quite a good game for multiplayer. But then again pretty much all games are for the Wii, apart from the God awful Red Steel.

Just A Lonely Rock

It's not often a game this good comes along. I can't wait to play LittleBigPlanet, quite frankly It's top of my christmas list. Most innovate game of the year? Perhaps. All I can say is, who can ever speak badly against a game which is simply Mario meets Garrys mod? Not me, thats for sure!
